As from last week, Move Intermodal launched a new rail connection from Istanbul, Turkey to the Benelux countries. It also creates a direct overland connection all the way from the UK to Turkey. We added this new train shuttle because of increasing demand for intermodal transport from/to Turkey. In this way, we created additional capacity for current and new customers.
The new connection, in cooperation with our partner Hupac, adds the missing link between the UK and Turkey and integrates it in the already existing network. By creating a direct rail service between Rail Terminal Chemelot in Geleen and WienCont in Vienna we can connect seamlessly to Halkali Istanbul and the port of Moerdijk from which four UK ports are served (London Thamesport, Immingham, Teesport and Blyth).
Did you even know that this connection saves you 4,2 tons CO2 per road consignment from Benelux to Turkey? In other words, if you choose for Move Intermodal’s synchromodal solution you generate 86% less emissions than the traditional road transport alternative. This shows our continued commitment to create sustainable synchromodal door-2-door transport solutions for our customers. Furthermore, we also ensure fast door-2-door transit times.
